On Saturday, October 3rd, LovEvolution comes to San Francisco for its sixth successful year. This friendly dance music parade and festival draws thousands of people with a portion of profits benefiting charities and the local community. The parade begins on Market and 2nd Streets at noon and the love flows down to the heart of the city at Civic Center Plaza where America’s largest all-ages dance club goes till dark.
“An event that brings this many peaceful people together in celebration is truly remarkable,” remarked Syd Gris, board member of SF LovEvolution. “And it’s not just a party, but a party with a purpose. A platform to promote values the world could use more of to inform our collective decisions. SF LovEvolution is a gathering to promote peace, understanding, tolerance, diversity, love, and respect.”
The largest electronic dance music event in America, stemming from the original Berlin Love Parade, has become an integral part of the cultural fabric of San Francisco. LovEvolution provides awareness and fundraising for nonprofits, a positive economic impact for San Francisco and an opportunity for all-ages to experience electronic dance music like never before.
‘Feel the Beat’ and the California Transplant Donor Network
Each float at LovEvolution was chosen based on creativity, musical diversity and experience with electronic music events, including past participation in Loveparade San Francisco and/or SF LoveFest and they all bring a unique vibe. The California Transplant Donor Network in partnership with Freeform vs. Dubalicious has created the ‘Feel the Beat’ campaign and float to raise organ donor awareness and encourage Californians to be registered donors.
“The California Transplant Donor Network is excited to partner with Freeform vs. Dubalicious to reach the participants of LovEvolution with our message of Donate Life,” commented Eugene Osborne, vice president of administration for the California Transplant Donor Network. “The float will draw attention to this important life-saving cause with Donate Life logos and the well-known pink donor dot. We hope to inspire this important group to become organ, eye and tissue donors by signing up on our state donor registry.”
Of the 100,000 individuals on the national organ transplant waiting list, over 21,000 are in California – anyone can be a hero and save up to eight lives
and improve the lives of 50 others by deciding to be an organ and tissue donor at www.donateLIFEcalifornia.org/feelthebeat.

Estimated Economic Impact in the Millions
Due to the growth of this event last year, LovEvolution 2009 requires a large increase in all levels of traffic, police, security and medical personnel. Add to this escalating city fees and minimal corporate sponsorship, and this is a very expensive event for a nonprofit to accomplish. In order to continue the event, LovEvolution received permission from the city to charge a $10 admission to be charged at Civic Center Plaza festival gates. This money will help support worthy organizations, including: Friends of the Main Library, Next Aid, Aids Housing Alliance, The Center for Sex and Culture, Beat University Scholarship Fund, Bay Area Young Positives, SF Suicide Prevention/HIV AIDs Nightline and more.
Due to its huge popularity, SF LovEvolution and the city’s larger dance music scene has a substantial positive economic impact on the city’s hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants, retailers and other businesses striving to stay afloat during this tough economy.
Live Performance Stage
To expand the offering of the event, the LovEvolution team is expanding and premiering the LovEvolution Live Stage to be set on in front of City Hall featuring live electronica and performance. Featured on the LovEvolution Live stage will be The Mutaytor – an eleven-piece dance orchestra, with 15 physical performance artists providing breathtaking feats of aerial performance, giant screen visuals, unique reinterpretations of the circus arts against one of the most evolved progressive electronic art rock bands on the West Coast. Other performers include: LA Riots, Kenji Williams, Star Culture, and more.
