Editors Review and Tracklist of Tasadi’s ‘The System’

Last month I told you about the upcoming release from the legendary Lost Language Label, “The System” by U.S. Electronic Music music producer
Tasadi.
Due to be released this month, I was able to get my hands on a review copy of “The System” and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
I’m not one of those people that claim to know every Dance Music artist, or have heard of everything… with all the Electronic Music out there (both good and bad) that would be impossible. But with 20+ years under my belt listening to, buying, following Dance Music and Clubbing…from growing up in Detroit during the genesis of House and Techno, living in Miami in the Expose’, Stevie B, and Corona days, and now living in Las Vegas, I’d like to think that I know a little something about the genre, it’s development over the years and how to tell if something’s got legs or not.
One of the perks of this gig is that I constantly get my ears opened to things that I would have not normally known about and this was definitely one of those times.
This is not a mix tape. Tasadi’s “The System” is a well composed compilation of original work and plays like a true album. You know, like when an artist puts out a compilation of new work..each song with a different signature and style ? It is 11 tracks that span the consciousness of the composer himself and it really does take you on a journey of differing styles and moods.
From ambient productions that are tailor made for chill out and after hours , in the tradition of the haunting yet rhythmic Deep Forest, to straight out progressive trance tracks, with hints of Detroit Techno, that are ready for the main floor. I was also impressed with differing vocal numbers ‘Neptune’, ‘Luna’ and ‘Mercurius’ and the hauntingly angelic style of the vocalist, herself, to grace both ambient and booming trance tracks equally as beautiful.
Taking his inspiration from Gustav Holst’s legendary 19th century symphonic suite, ‘The Planets’, the Texan has christened each of ‘The System’s tracks after the nine planets in our solar system (adding in the Sun and Moon for good measure!). Each piece of music draws inspiration from an individual planet, with its movements conveying the popularly held ideas associated with the influence of them on the human psyche .
The System is a perfect listen for the car or your ipod, and with it’s range of electronic music styles, ambient, progressive trance, after hours, vocals and instrumentals, it really is a solid compilation (album) that you can play over again, in any mood as I have probably listened to it from start to finish quite a few times in the last week. It’s really a good listen.
